Watch the hands. Hear the arrangement.
Performance media becomes more useful when it is identified precisely. Capture the title, venue or session, date, credited publisher and whether the audio is live, edited or taken from a studio recording.
01 · Identify
Name the version before comparing it.
A song title alone is not enough. Note the setting, approximate date, arrangement and visible personnel so a clip is not confused with a different live take or a studio track.
02 · Observe
Use the picture to explain the sound.
Watch the picking hand, fretting position, muting and the distance between quiet and accented strokes. Visual evidence can clarify technique, but camera cuts and dubbed audio can also mislead.
03 · Credit
Keep the source attached.
Preserve the original publisher, caption and publication date when saving a reference. Clear credits make later verification possible and respect the people who created the recording or photograph.
